ETTINA BHUJA, MUDIGERE TALUK, CHIKMAGALUR, KARNATAKA.

ETTINA BHUJA

I know Trekking teams' kept this place as primary in their list, a place where you can just practice your photographic skills.

How to reach Ettina bhuja.
There are three Route to reach Ettina bhuja.
1. Mudigere - Hosakere - Bairapura - Ettina bhuja
2. Shishila (Near Dharmastala) - Ettina bhuja
3. Sakleshpur - Hanubalu - Hosakere - Bairapura  - Ettina bhuja

We have chosen the 1st route to reach Ettina Bhuja, because we do not have our own vehicle today, from 1st route you will get the transport facility to reach Bairapura.
If you are traveling from your Own vehicle then no problem, you could park your vehicle at Bairapura.
We have traveled from Hassan to Mudigere by KSRTC bus, we have reached Mudigere around 7:30 AM and we had our breakfast at Mudigere and packed the necessary food and water, there will be a regular KSRTC bus facility from Mudigere to Bairapura, Bus will start at 8:00 AM morning everyday, we are waiting for this bus to start the journey, Bus Crossing the roads of Coffee and tea estates we have crossed Daradahalli and we reached Hosakere cross. We were dropped at Bairapura gate around 9:15AM, from there we began our Journey to Ettina Bhuja. This is one of the best route and short distance to Ettina Bhuja, if you chose 2nd route then it will be a long journey to reach, 3rd one would be the same as 1st route to reach Bairapura, it's via Sakleshpur you will get very less transport facility from this route. As regularly i took some best shots from my gear... :-)

You may also trek Ettina Bhuja from Shishila which is near Dharmasthala, this route stretch is pretty long and you would require a best guide to trek inside the dense forest.

Any provision of car parking near base camp?
Can we pitch a tent for night?
Time taken to reach the peak?

    1. Hello,

Any provision of car parking near base camp?
yes, Byrapura a village on the base of the Ettina bhuja and there is a Shiva temple, check with local people to get the safety of your car.

Can we pitch a tent for night?
Sure you can stay on the top of the Ettina Bhuja.

Time taken to reach the peak?
Average time would be 2 hours to reach the peak.

      Regards,
      Sharath

  2. Hey Sharath,

The pictures posted in this post are really amazing. I am visiting India in November, I am planning to visit Ettina Bhuja and pitch a tent for a night. I heard that we can pitch a tent. The only question I have is do we have to take permission for that? If yes, Then where do I have to take permission from.

    1. Nobody will ask until everything is good, warning board placed before enter into the forest. Making a tent on the top of the hill is bit risky. As I told nobody will ask until everything is good. Please contact area incharge for the forest Department.

    1. You can also take a close look of Nanya bhairaveshwara Temple. In fact this is a starting point of ettina Bhuja, also you can see the statutory Board of Forest Department.

  4. Hi Sharath,

I accidentally stumbled on your blog while browsing some random stuffs and this post is mind blowing with amazing pics.Thank you so much for your perspective and details.

Your pics have inspired me to visit this place . Hence i would need some advice from you-

    1. How frequent the KSRTC buses to Bhairapura from Mudigere ?
    2. Are there are water sources near temple or on the way to the peak?
    3. Do you have any rough route map from temple to peak ? If not, Is the trail visible clearly or are there any zigzag routes which we need to remember?

Sorry to bother with many questions. But your valuable inputs will be much appreciated !!

    Best regards

      1. How frequent the KSRTC buses to Bhairapura from Mudigere ?
Every 30 min to one hour buses are running on that route.
      2. Are there are water sources near temple or on the way to the peak?
No water facility near by temple, you can get water near by houses, and near by water body.
      3. Do you have any rough route map from temple to peak ? If not, Is the trail visible clearly or are there any zigzag routes which we need to remember?
The human walking path clearly visible all along from temple to peak, you will get clear route to trek.
